One Sophia Pearson (on BCC) c. 25 Sept. 1808 Brierley Hill, Staff. dau of Joseph & Elizabeth Pearson
http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =536969483

Other Sophia Pearson c. 26 Aug. 1804 St, Thomas Dudley dau of Richard & Sarah Pearson

One Sophia marries Joseph Turner 28 Mar. 1826, St. Thomas Dudley
Other Sophia marries Samuel Spencer 28 May 1832, St. Thomas Dudley
RF so kindly did look ups on these marriages for me, I was hoping a witness would be a Pearson, Turner or Spencer, no such luck. i thought that would help with which one was Joseph & Elizabeth Pearson daughter.

on the 1841 Dudley Worc. Census, the Sophia with Joseph Turner indicates "not b. county".
On the 1851 she indicates she was born Kingswinford, Staff. abt 1808.
On 1861 Census Joseph lists "widowed" so Sophia has died between 1851-61

The other Sophia who married Samuel Spencer consistently shows she she was born Dudley Worc. on the 1841 -51-61-& 71 census. I think she "probably" was the dau of Richard & Sarah Pearson.

Don't know where else to check , opinions please.

Hi Maryann have you checked the Census to see if any relatives are next door or nearby? Are there any strong family christian names which run through the generations?

The Turner marriage wit were Thomas Licett & Jane Brooks, the Spencer wit were Thos Allen & Elizabeth Smith, could not find them on the 1841 census with any connection?

Yes, the one that married the Spencer had a Richard & a Sarah. Both had a Joseph & Elizabeth, but the Turner Sophia also had a James & an Ann.

If any of the children were born after 1837 you could order a birth certificate, which would have Sophia's maiden name on it.

well, I already know that both these Sophia's maiden name was Pearson, I just don't know who the Sophia (dau) of Joseph & Elizabeth married, the Turner or the Spencer.

Oh yes sorry forgot they were both Pearson :?

Suppose neither of them have a middle name do they, that would be too easy :!:

No middle that I found, but she is the sister of Humphrey & Hezekiah and these Pearsons have been misleading. But I'm going to submit another sister, Anne who married a Bird, but I think I'll wait. Everyone is probably getting tired of these Pearsons!

I could not find an Elizabeth or Jane as a sister to either of the Sophia's. However there are a couple of family trees on Ancestry.com that show one Sophia was the dau of Richard Pearson & Sarah Smith. The Elizabeth Smith wit, I guess, could been a cousin, but that's a pretty good stretch. Also I don't trust a lot of information on these family trees. There is an IGI listing for a marriage of Richard Pearson to a Sarah Smith, St. Thomas, Dudley 21 Feb. 1797?

Since I have census information and some marriages for children of these two Sophia's, think I will add them to BCC without parent information for now.
