I am looking to find out what happened to Ellen Travis or Travers, married name given as both Horwell and Howell (1874 marriage Staffs BMD). She is on the 1871 census living at the vicarage in Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent and also nearby in 1881, when her niece is living with her. Ellen's birth date varies dramatically!
Maybe I've not found the right name "soundex" - but I have not been able to find her after the 1881 census. Hope someone has a bright idea.

After trying all the tricks I could think of she finally popped out as living at the same address, still with her niece and James Myatt so it should not have been so hard
1891
Ellen Orwell 50
Mary E Walker 23
William Mc Keghany 23
James Myatt 35

Mary E McKeghney 34
William McKeghney 1

Very pleased - after a long time of trying different searches and trying again months later. I knew about the William McKegheny marriage (another variety of spellings there) but did not think to search on his name in my quest for aunt Ellen.
Excellent!

Very pleased that the story has moved on ten years. Still not able to resolve what happens next ie further marriage or death record or even another emigration. She remains a puzzle.

Is this still a Brickwall, or have you solved it?
