I had a Dyson, a few years ago but just couldn't get on with it. If I remember right it was bagless

I have a sebo and I love it bit pricey but I love the way it adjusts
from hard floor to carpet without you having to fiddle with the dials.
Only prob is you have to have bags for it

I don't mind the bags Jan. Does it come with an attachment for the stair carpet?

I noticed a couple of reviews mentioned scratching the laminate floor :? (only a couple mind)

I asked my mother in law but she still prefers brooms. They handle better and are easier to park.

mine does and is the blue one
but a friend has the black pet one and it has an upholstery attachment which is excellent

my blue one has the nozzles you know standard one

but the black one has a mini sort of attachement which is great for carpets.
best thing is to go and have a look at one

Panasonic vacs are good too

I use the Dyson on the carpets as it has a brush action which lifts the pile nicely but otherwise I'm not very impressed; in order to maintain suction the filters need cleaning and replacing far more frequently than they claim and cleaning out the dust receptacle can be a pain and messy. For pure sucking power I wouldn't want to be without our Henry.

Thanks a lot Jan, that's made my mind up

I'm gonna go for the black one! It's a bit cheaper on Amazon too - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sebo-Automatic- ... B0019QNHQ8

SRD I agree with you about the Dyson
