Yesterday Maggie so kindly did a marriage look up for me for William Morgan to Elizabeth Pearson (Humphreys dau.) I added them to BCC yesterday. As I was entering the census records, 1861, 1871, I noticed on the 1881 that William has a new wife, Sarah Jane. IGI search showed the following:
Grooms name William Morgan
Grooms birth date 1840
Brides name Sarah Jane Chance
Brides birth date 1851
Marriage date 17 Nov 1879
Marriage Place Kingswinford Staff
Grooms fathers name Joseph Morgan
Brides fathers name John Chance
Grooms marital status Widowed
Brides marital status Single
Indexing Project (batch) # MO1208-4
System origin England-EASY
Source film # 1470764

Also found on BMD Marriage Holy Trinity, Wordsley DRO 018/006/170

So I thought ok Elizabeth has died and he has remarried. Checking BCC I find a Sarah Jane Chance with father John Chance b.1827
On BCC her birth place is shown as Oldswinford. On the 1881 census it shows Lye, Worc. Checking the 1891 census and now Sarah Jane Morgan is listed with Alexander Morgan (William's older brother) as wife born Amblecote Staff. I cannot find a marriage for her to Alexander. They are living Brierly Hill on 1891. 1901 Sarah is back living at Lye Worc. widowed, showing birth place as Lye again.
Advice as to whether I should connect Sarah Jane Chance up to the Morgans? Help

Thank you, Sparks, I just didn't think to to check Birmingham, she had always lived in Lye or Kingswinford. This would fit with Sarah's first husband William's death in Apr/June 1886 and Alexanders first wife buried Sept 1887. But still concerned about birth locations for Sarah?

Lye was historically part of Old Swinford parish, in the same way that Brierley Hill was part of Kingswinford, or Netherton part of Dudley etc. They are often found interchangeably in the census and other records.

Thanks SP1, sorry but I'm not real familiar with locations. So I think I am safe in connecting this up on BCC. But now it looks as if Alexander Morgan had a couple of previous marriages, so I think I best get some looks ups.
