Surely the Queen(or her right hand men) should wait until his active career is over before making him a Sir.I'm talking about Bradley Wiggins!! Ridiculous!! and even Kate's Bush has won an honour.
Some guy has been honoured for his work during WW2?? A bit late!!!
Or is it me?

You deserve to receive the honour as soon after your worthy achievement has been documented and recognised.

Somebodies efforts in WW2 took more than 60 years to be documented and presented. There is no time limit on this. Good on them!

I think it's possibly a bit early for some of the more senior awards to have been given for more recent achievements after all if you've already got a top award what is there left to reward future efforts in other fields?
As far as awards for efforts made many years ago is concerned; I do think that the granting of awards has been dumbed down over the years with people who would never have qualified in the past getting gongs for just doing their job; civil servants apart (for whom the granting of awards appears to have been part of the job description), awards used to be for doing things considerably over and above one's 'payscale'. As Ken Livingstone has supposedly said; he got paid a lot of money for the work he did towards the Olympics, how does doing what he was paid to do justify 'extra' awards? But I also think that some of the rank-and-file have been disgracefully ignored in the past whilst their supposed 'betters' got awards for just doing what they were supposed to do anyway and it's a good thing if some of those injustices are corrected.

Well let's just hope this doesn't come back on The Establishment. Is Bradley the first "clean" winner of La Tour De France? Let's hope so.
And talking of injustices why wasn't our Captain Bobby Moore knighted when you have lesser mortals like Alex Freguson,Trevor Brooking and Geoff Hurst with Sir before their names!!?
They weren't fit to lace his boots!!
