Hi guys,
Please could somebody help me find an ancestor in the census records?
He was John BAKER (b. 1792, lichfield) the son of John BAKER (1748-1822) and Anne WOODFIELD (1750-1828). I have a christening for him in St Chad's, Lichfield on 22 January, 1792. I've searched the death records and he doesn't seemed to have died early, but I can't for the life of me find him in the census records for 1841, 1851 or 1861!
He was the brother of my direct ancestor Samuel BAKER (1792-1862) a paver in Lichfield. His other brothers were Joseph BAKER (1779-1851) a soldier, James BAKER (1778-1849) and Benjamin BAKER (b. 1784) a marble mason who moved to Liverpool.
Thanks,
Darren

Hello Darren
Do you know that he was alive after 1837 ?

Hi auntie Em, gosh that's a point! If it was before the 1830s then I wouldnt find him on the BMD would I? :/
I'm not sure if he was still alive then to be honest. I have so much on his brothers that I was quite keen to trace him too!

You won't find his death recorded if he died before 1837. You could possibly find his buriel, but you will need to know where he died and search the buriels in church records.

What evidence do you have for the birthplace? I hope you not going just by where the Christening took place, as that can be totally different to place of birth.

I have a lot of evidence that his father also a John BAKER was living and working in Lichfield at the time. He was a victuller in the City Arms pub (St John's Street) in Lichfield. Of course, i can't be certain that he wasnt born outside of Lichfield, I am fairly confident.
