NOt sure if this is in the right place but hope so, as the subject says its about names

i have a Job Glaze and a Thos glase given on a 1861 census was wondering are these actual names or are there nick names or short for something.

I think i'm right in saying that Job is an actual name and Thos is short for Thomas

Job (pronounced 'Jobe') is a Biblical name. This is where the saying that someone "has the patience of Job" comes from.
