Got the death certs from Dudley, and looks like a hit on one:

Sarah Dunn
Died 27 July 1843, Netherton
Age 66 years
Wife of John Dunn laborer
Pneumonia
The mark of Sophia Barnsley in attendance, Derby End

John Dunn
Died 24 Oct 1843, Netherton
Age 74 years
Nailer
Stroke
The mark of Hannah Dunn present at the death, Netherton

Not sure if these two were the couple John and Sarah. I'll go back and look at the data again and see if we had a Hannah anywhere, but it looks like a hit on Sarah Dunn!

Still waiting on the death cert for Sophia Barnsley.

Hannah could have either been a "spinster" daughter, but more likely the wife of John's son James per BCC.

we have sophia as dau of John and sarah

and Jesse as son of sophia

BG is that year correct should it be 1849? or 1847

as I thought the one in 1843 was one aged 7

can you have a check pls on certif does it say 1843? for John

cos I got these notes..

not the 1843 death looked up at archives.....This one in 1843 wasw aged 7 so not ours..

I know, the dates suprised me too!

I just triple checked and they both are from 1843

Sarah, 27 Jul 1843, Netherton, age 66
John, 24 Oct 1843, Netherton, age 74

The handwriting is very clear on both of them.

Yes, while it is all circumstantial evidence, i am becoming more convinced that Jesse is the son of Sophia...born out of wedlock, and that's why we can't find a christening, a father John a gardener, and his son named Henry...possibly after Sophia's husband later in life.

And yes, i think these are probably our John and Sarah, given the Netherton, and his age matches. It is possible that whoever provided the census data thought John and Sarah were about the same age. However, i'll do some more John Dunn searches for that birth year to see what comes up.

did you order it from the dudley registry office or the GRo
does it have a ref on

just that note we have for that burial is confusing

Yes, ordered from Dudley.

Thomas Allen was the registrar for both.

John Dunn's was registered on 26 Oct 1843.

Sarah Dunn's was registered on 29 Jul 1843.

I don't see any numbers on the copy except in the far left...no. 4 for John and no. 325 for Sarah.
