I'm stuck on my Uncle Tom :( http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/fa ... ill-Family

Thomas John Hill. Born about 1902. He's on the 1911 census living at No 3 Hockley Lane, Yew Tree Hills, Netherton with his parents William Hill and Matilda (Ann Matilda Hodgkiss), and his siblings Annie, Harry (aka William Henry), Albert (aka Ernie) and Minnie (My grandmother). His other brothers Christopher (aka Joe) and William (aka Billy) were living with their gran and another cousin in Church Road, Netherton.

From family stories I believe he went to work for Hingleys in Netherton. I remember going to visit him and his wife May at their house in Old Hill... No 36 Clyde Street.... the old house had the skullery and toilet at the bottom of a blue brick yard and Tom brewed his own beer down the cellar... strange thing is I can't find any details of his birth, marriage or death.

His name could have been John Thomas Hill, not Thomas John as it was noted on the 1911 census. Quite a few of his brothers and sisters were known by their middle name. From what my mother tells me his wife's maiden name was Evans and her family were hauliers. They had no children and apart from my Mum, there aren't any other relatives living. Last time I saw him would have been about 1980 when I left home to go to Art College.

Not much to go on really, but can anybody give me a hand or some clues trying to find them both? This is the first time I really did wish I'd spent more time asking questions when Tom and May were still alive.

Thanks for the quick response Mark - I think I'll have to buy the birthcertificates just to be sure, the marriage looks promising though - just about everybody in my family goes by their middle name!!
