Would like to find out from parish records if Edward and Elizabeth Willetts baptised 14/9/1828 mother Hannah Willetts
at St John Halesowen were baptised as children and whether ages were given.

Hi Suki, no ages given, just says that Edward and Elizabeth were illigitimate children of Hannah Willetts Nailer of Old Hill. HTH from Linell.

Mother Hannah all believed to be children of Hannah unmarried Wilkes fold. Are ther any more clues in parish records.
Is there a death recorded for this Edward baptised 1828. Edward living at Wilkes fold 41c 51c (m) father is given as Thomas nailer Old hill on marriage certificate married to Sarah Parkes 1844 St GilesRR.He died 1853 mother in law informant Ann Parkes.
Elizabeth Willetts unmarried same address Wilkes fold Has mother named as Hannah on census and marriage certificate. No father given
Problem is why Thomas given as Ed.'s(b1821) father and no father given for Elizabeth b1816 if they are sisters.
what is the Halesowen connection or are they just sneaking off there to get baptised,
Have been round and round on this one before but having another go.

Some illigitmate children did make up 'Father's' on their Marriage Certificates Suki, Edward could have done so, or perhaps he had gleaned an idea as to who is father was. Have you checked the Census's is there any Man in the household at anytime? Linell.

Well there was a James Priest lodging there 1851 but that doesn't seem to get me anywhere. Hannah could have ill. children by different fathers a very modern lady!!

The Baptism for Mary says she is the Illigitimate daughter of Hannah Willetts from Gosty Hill. Joseph was aged 4 when he was Baptised Illigitmate son of Hannah Willetts Rowley. (Gosty Hill did come under Rowley, and is only about a mile from Halesowen Church, having said that the Halesowen Register is full of entries from Rowley and further afield.) The Baptism for James says he was aged 6, Illigitimate son of Hannah Willetts Nailer Rowley. BUT the next entry is for an Edward Willetts son of Betsy Willetts Nailer Rowley 19.3.1837. Shame wrong age for your Edward. Will check for any Burials. Best Wishes Linell.

Suki there is no Burial at Halesowen for Edward between 1828 - 1837. If he did die, he could have been buried at Rowley? May be worth you looking at the Rowley Regis burials. HTH from Linell.

Would have expected Hannah's address to be Old Hill /Wilkes Fold or Pear Tree Lane. Wonder whether there is a connection between the Willetts from Wilkes Fold and those from Gorsty Hill. There seem to be quite a few of the Gorsy Hill lot. Have often walked as a child from Blackheath down Gorsty Hill up Furnace Lane (hill) and into Halesowen also the other way and into Old Hill Ironocally have never been to Rowley or Rowley Church. I am told the road was so narrow at the bottom of Gorsty Hill that carts could not pass each other and someone had to shout all clear. Also that a relative of mine died in an accident when a horse and carirage bolted going down Gorsty Hill. Never been able to establish exactly who.

Hi Suki, that's all very interesting, think you could be right about the Willetts of Gorsty Hill and Pear Tree Street. Anthony Willetts 1826 son of George and Jane Priest lived at Gorsty Hill in 1851? I remember cycling up there once! Mind you my Grandfather cycled up there everyday until he was 65, he worked at Stewarts and Lloyds! Suppose he was used to it Don't remember the narrow road, must have been before my time Best Wishes Linell.

Just found two deaths William Willetts 83 d7/3/13 - 1730 Gorsy Hill notice there is a William this date on tribal
Margatet willetts 40 d20/6/13 Gorsy Hill - 1773 Margaret in same family grandaughter on tribal 1772
there is an Antony in this family too not sure if this helps
Which Willetts were living Gorsty Hill 1841 onwards just an idea

It was this Anthony who was in Gorsty Hill in 1851 Suki, I was just making the point you raised about how some Pear Tree Street Willetts ended up at Gorsty Hill. Best Wishes Linell.
