I really need help please trying to find Thomas Edwards on the 1841 & 1851 census, Thomas Edwards was born about 1817 at Brosley Shropshire and was a coal miner according to the 1861/1871 census, where he was living at Henry Street West Bromwich with Hannah Edwards and her children, Thomas gives his age as 44 years on the 1851 and 55 years on the 1861.
On the 1841 census Hannah Edwards is married to Richard Edwards who was also a coalminer and he was age 20 years, on the 1851 census Hannah is a widow so Richard must have died.
My aim is trying to find who and where Thomas Edwards was in 1841 to 1851.
I would appreciate any help with this please I can find plenty of Thomas Edward's but not one who is a miner.

Hi it looks asthough his age on the 1851 census is wrong. If he was born in 1817 his age in 1851 is 34.What relation is Hannah to Thomas as you dont specify in your post. I take it you require the 1841 census record for Thomas , as you found him on the '51? Most of the entries I've checked so far are agricultural labourers, havent found a miner yet.will keep looking

Hi Ellie Thank you for your time looking, I found lots of AG labourers , I have Thomas on the 1861/71 census with Hannah and it says wife, it's 1841/51 census I can't find Thomas on , I suppose he could have change his occupation after he went to live with Hannah.

Annie I think this might be Susannah ( hannah) and poss mistranscribed on the entry...if she was a widow they could have mistakenly put her maiden name from her fathers entry... I have seen that happen before!
1856
EDWARDS Thomas GARBETT Sarah Halesowen, St John the Baptist Dudley Register Office 014/002/304
worth looking at to see if her father is a Benj Garbett

I think a lot of our poorer Ancestors, did not really know how old they were Annie, have yet to really find anyone who's age is the same + 10 years on any Census. As for the Occupations, some of them did a bit of this and a bit of that, Labouring here and Mining there, so don't take that as gospel either. Happy hunting from linell.

Hi All
I am happy to say the marriage certificate I sent for arrived this morning, and I think Birmingham Registry office deserves a medal for quickness , I filled the on line form in at the week-end so thats what I call quick.
They married 1st June 1857 St Philips Church Birmingham, Thomas Edwards was a bachelor age 38 Years a miner and living at Navigation Street, and his father wss Richard Edwards, a labourer, so was not the brother to Hannah/susannah's first husband Richard , Hannah married in the name of Hannah this time and was a widow age 39 Years, and her father was Benjamin Garbett a miner.
So now I know I am looking for a bachelor when I look for Thomas Edwards on the 1841/51 census.
Thank you all once again for the help and suggestions you have give me.

Have moved this to BC Genealogy we can have a further delve from here!
So Richard Edwards had father Thomas
Annie can you add that marriage to Connections for Susannah and Richard....please
then Hannah/Susannah marries again to a Thomas Edwards with father Richard....there has to be a connection
were Thomas and Richard brothers?
So Annie are you still after this Thomas Edwards now on the 41 and 51 census with a father Richard?
