Hi,
Some members may recall that I have been searching for the date of death (and details) of the John Guest (my Gt Gt Grandfather) shown in the BCC tree below :? .

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... ver=222760

He married Ann Maria Hughes (nee Kendrick) in 1858 and is shown as deceased on his daughter's birth certificate (Sarah Ann Guest born 31 January 1859). I obtained a death certificate for the most likely FreeBMD record shown on the GRO index for 1858 (Stourbridge District, Sep Qtr 1858 6c 82) and it turned out to relate to a child :!:

I have now found a FreeReg record showing the burial of a John Guest, aged 22 years (about right), in St Andrew's Church, Netherton on 22 August 1858 but there is no GRO corresponding record; however the West Midland BMD index shows an entry for the death of a John Guest in the Dudley District in 1858 (DUD/040/39). Regrettably it does not give any further information, so I

All and any comments welcomed; for example, is it not unusual for the 'local' records to be more accurate that the central GRO records found on FreeBMD :?:

H :-)

I have had a few records go missing on their way to the GRO so no, it is not unusual to find them local and not national.

You also have to remember that the registration district he is recorded in has to do with his place of death, not his last living address.
