Buying a good webcam

Hello everyone. I need a good webcam with a built in microphone. I have a pair of speakers. Presumably I don't need headphones. Can someone give me some ideas. I use windows 7. I had thought that the Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 might be a good one. Has anyone got this one? I have also been looking at a Logitec C170. How does that compare? Does anyone know?
Also do Skype calls use up many KB's? Many thanks.

Didn't see your original post.

I would have if I had seen it.

After that comment, now I can't be bothered.

Alternatively it may be that no-one has any opinions or recommendations. I expect most of us are either, like me, using ancient technology like my 5 year old logitech something or other (the box and instructions were lost many a moon ago) along with the built in speakers (which can cause echo & feedback so a set of headphones can be useful) or have computers with such things built in and, as most of us couldn't exactly be described as geeks, we tend to use what we've got and be thankful that it all came in the computer package we bought.

As far as Skype is concerned, I don't know what you mean, are you talking about the operation of it using up your RAM, the amount of disc space on your computer the programme takes up, the amount of bandwidth (I think that's the term) it uses from your ISP package or what?

I'm sure all of that sort of info can be found on the various comparison & techie info sites there are around but it's hardly something that one would expect us to be au fait with.

Or is that you're just upset that England stuffed the All Blacks yesterday?

Hi All
Actually England deserved their win- no I am not upset about that; just thought you had all been so helpful with regard to my previous posts and you all seem technically inclined. Have purchased the Logitech and it is a good buy. I was wondering how many mB etc a call to say NZ might use up eg via my ISP. Sorry for the confusion.

Voice audio takes hardly any bandwidth. VIdeo is so optimised it doesn't take much either.

A standard resolution of 640x480 at 512KBs would be about 660MB per hour upload.

Does your ISP charge for uploads?
