A gay couple who were turned away from a bed and breakfast were discriminated against, it has been ruled today.
Because of her Christian beliefs the owner of the B and B would not let them stay in a room with a double bed.She had the same ruling for unmarried couples.Old fashioned values?
:? Still trying to work out my stance on this.

She is not discriminating against Gays, she is discriminating against those who prefer a de-facto or casual relationship.

if its a hotel then its a buisness ran from a building then they have the right to sue

if its a b&b its ran from someones home and they should have the right to refuse any request the seem fit to refuse the people in question should of relised this when making the booking and the the owner could of poiltely said fully booked

only my opinion ?

I thought the whole episode was a Joke, honestly in this day and age you would think we were back in the 1950's.

so if the courts dont take in to account the religous beliefs of the house owner, what to stop people taking the churches to court who want to be married in them if camoron makes it law ?

he say it will be up to them the churches, but if a person religious belief are over rule by a court concerning there own house, then what to stop the court over ruling the house of which ever god you believe in ?

When you run a B n B you have to operate under business guidelines.

Your property is no longer private property.

You have opened it to the public as a business to make a profit and therefore, rightly, it is subject to the same anti discrimination laws as a hotel.

So the bleating about it being "private property" is wrong.

Saying homosexuals are immoral is discrimination no matter what your religion tells you.

Saying unmarried couples are immoral is no different.

In a democracy, society as a whole decides the prevalent morals and laws under which it wants to live.

If legislation has been passed decriminalizing homosexuals and pre-marriage sex then as a citizen you have a legal obligation to uphold societies chosen morality.

In a public institution, such as a B n B, you do not have the right to enforce your own morals over those protected by laws and legislation.

If the owner knew that one or both were married to someone else and it was a a case of "cheating" then they should be able to refuse them accommodation.

Currently the expectation of faithfulness in marriage is upheld by the majority of people and the divorce laws.
