(or listen to if like me you like talking books)

Don't normally like thrillers, but just listened to Tripwire by Lee Child

Excellent, gripping story - even had it on full blast whilst up to my eyeballs in soapsuds, cleaning the bathroom.

Heard they're making it into a film - couldn't believe who they've chosen to play the part Jack Reacher ????

I've read some of these Reacher books, so who's going to play Reacher Antie Em?

Well - there must be a real shortage of tall, rugged good looking blokes who could act the part - but it's been offered to .........

wait for it ..........

Tom Cruise - Oh dear - won't be going to see that one then (hope they have a portable box)

"I've got a super book for you to read" said my hairdresser "It's really really good". With trepidation I looked at what she was handing me -- Camilla Lackberg -- never heard of her! She insisted I take it (she runs a lending library to her clients). A Scandanavian thriller that's what. and again I was assured I would like it.

To say I was amazed was an understatement - lovely as she is, her reading seems to consist of romances especially with a bit of 'you know what'....

So I can't really say I 've discovered the Swedish author- Camilla Lackberg - but if you like your thrillers well written, with a credible plot this is the author for you.

However, I would advise reading her books in the correct order The Ice Princess, The Preacher and The Stonecutter. The fourth book is entitled The Stranger but was originally called The Gallows Bird. Why the title change I don't know! I haven't read this one yet - it's on order.

So if you are a fan of Steig Larsson and Jo Nesbo, enjoy Swedish noir, give this series a try, I'm sure you won't regret it.

I'm currently listening to an audio book of hers, called The Hidden Child. It's excellent very long, but passes the time if I'm doing boring jobs like ironing!

I've read them all, they come out in Danish way before English. There are eight in all, only six have been released in English. There is also a short story featuring Patrick's collegue Martin, that's good too - and I didn't guess how it would end!!

Sue - What are books 7 and 8 called - also the short story - I can't get enough of this author.

Do you know why and how The Gallows Bird became The Stranger?

I've now started reading Lynda La Plante's "Silent Scream". Never read any of hers before, although I've seen "Trial and Retribution" and others on T.V. It is very good.

These books are a really really good read by Simon Beckett.

1. The Chemistry of Death
2. Written in Bone (Haven"™t read this one yet)
3. Whispers of the Dead
3. The Calling of the Grave

The main character is David Hunter who is a forensic anthropologist. You don"™t have to read them in the correct order as each book involves a different case, but, the books also tells of his personal life. If you read them in the wrong order you can still catch up about his personal life.

If you like mysteries with a bit of horror added then Dean Koontz's Odd Thomas series is for you!

Odd Thomas is the main character and his mission in life is to ease the transition of dead people who have unfinished business on Earth to the afterlife.

So that often involves solving murder mysteries and other crimes.

Underneath the individual stories is a sub plot that will, one day, explain how Odd got these powers and who gave them to him.

Sequence is

Odd Thomas
Forever Odd
Brother Odd
Odd Hours
Odd Interlude 1
Odd Interlude 2
Odd Interlude 3
In Odd We Trust
Odd Is On Our Side
House Of Odd
Odd Apocalypse

I have listened to most of the Jack Reacher books now and have enjoyed every one. Also discovered why Tom Cruise was offered the part of 6'5" big guy Jack - he is producing it. Have to say though, I did see the trailer and he does look pretty good - won't be rushing to see it though.
