Reasons
a) Robert Smith lived in Owen Street in 1841 and in later Census records with wife Mary
b) in 1871 William Walton is shown as nephew of Robert and Mary Smith
c) William Walton born 1845 is shown as son of Margaret aged 68 but is probably son of daughter Jane Walton aged 28
d) No Whorton or Worton families found who meet criteria of marriage record and location or age of Mary

I think you are correct I would add her maiden name in template as that
prob the marriage misheard when transcribed

Since found some of descendants use Whorton and Worton in later Census records

As noted above some of family switch from Walton to Worton in later generations

San Has used Worton whilst quite clearly David is Walton not Worton but his some of his children switch to Worton when they marry
I have this Same David on bcc as Walton

keeping Worton where regis as that but it is Walton misheard I think
