To me it looks like - 3 hrs 50mins ?? (could that last bit mean 'to the hr' )

I agree with the 3hrs 50mins --could it be pm -- is it a time because she was a twin? I believe they used to put times on multiples births in caase of inheritance problems.

I think it says PM. It seems to be standard for Scottish records to put the time too. You can download a sample from here

The time appears on Scottish births as a norm.
So I will go with 3.50 pm and Shieldmuir.
