Hi Guys, Would any one know where my 2nd great grandad might be buried , Living in Stafford Street Dudley when he died in 1860. Educated guess would be appreciated Dt. Ps I am presuming he was buried in local Church Yard, would St Thomas be a possibility.

There is a website you can check for burials on the dudley archives website

Hi ,I have been onhttp://www.dudley.gov.uk/community-an ... -service-/ They could not find Thomas Cadman. Found two other grandparents and wives at Dudley Cemetery,but this cemetery was not open when Thomas Cadman died, Coming to Dudley this week hoping to find graves , Dudley Cemetery is 20 mins from M5, I think that is Queens Cross . Stafford Street Old Dock in Town not far from St Thomas's, Please correct me if Wrong Dt

Hi Northern Girl, just had email from "The Hive"in Worcester, they tell me they cannot find any coroner's report on Thomas Cadman.Dt

Old Dock
Was area between Dock Lane/ Stafford Street/Wellington Road

New Dock
Was around Waterloo Street, other side of Wellington Road.

Most likely place for burial would be St Thomas, the St Thomas burial ground before the cemetery opened in Stourbridge Road about 1903 was in Queens Cross - still there but no gravestones.

are you saying that st Thomas church is the most likely place for burials before 1903 , and then they opened the cemetery at Queens cross? My other great grand parents are at Queens cross, so if i go there i will find no grave stones, so where are they? Dt PS Thomas Cadman died in Old Dock.

When St Thomas was Landscaped 20 - 30 years ago any un-identified remains were re-interred at the Council Cemetery. You would need to get in touch with them and see what records they have. HTH Linell.

Still can not find out if one of the unknown is Thomas Cadman Dt

No, the cemetery in Queens Cross was the St Thomas's burial ground. The Borough Cemetery is a bit further down and is in Stourbridge Road - this is the one opened about 1903.
By co-incidence I live about 100 yards from it, so they won't have to carry me very far when the time comes!

The Methodist Church in Dudley had a MASSIVE burial ground. It was in Wolverhampton St. There is still a small rebuilt church there. The burial ground went up to Cross St, just across the present day car park from Stafford St, and went all the way across to the Inhedge. It was cleared, I think, in the 1970s - the Social Security offices and courts are on the site now. The inscriptions were not as far as I know recorded, registers probably in Dudley Archives (never had need to look at them).

This is another possibility if burial not recorded at St Thomas.
