Sorry Rob, been looking at the Rogues, can't understand anyone from the Black country not knowing Bearwood. Perhaps its too close to Brum. I used to catch the no 11 bus from Handsworth to visit my sister in Bearwood as a child, i was only about ten .

Bearwood has been there for as long as I can remember, used to be a lovely shopping centre. I used to live on Harborne Road and walk to Bearwood with the kids. It's still not bad, but more charity shops than anything else. When the kids were little we used to get their bikes and stuff from Edwards, and we used to go ice skating in what years before was the Windsor Cinema. There is a road coming out of Bearwood called Three Shires Oak Road, which did have the borders for Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Staffordshire.

There is a really lovely, safe, park, Lightwoods Park, for the kids which joins up to Warley Woods and really is a pleasure to walk through in the summer or winter. I'm up there tomorrow with two of my grandsons who are stunt scooter crazy. The council have put together a really great skateboard area where the pool used to be.

Last night we went to a drive in movie event in the park, to watch Grease. It was so good, tuned radios in to a designated number to listen. Brilliant !!!

Hi My sister still lives there , she lived in Milcote Road, then Pargeter Road now she lives in Pheasant Road in Warley. My hubby lived in Park Road and, used to play in the woods, and the Park keeper used to chase him and his mates out of the Rose Garden. I used to go there when i was little to visit my sister and catch the Midland Red bus to Langley ,where my uncle lived by the Hen and Chickens. All my moms family lived round there. Her mom was born on the Birmingham Road near Oldbury. Good old Times. Dt :-)

I mentioned Bearwood to my wife and she said she used to go up there most saturday afternoons shopping when she was a teenager.
My dad used to take us on sundays, that was his day with us, to Lightwoods Park when we were young.
Lightwoods Park had a boating pool and a bandstand and we'd watch the local football teams.Football on a sunday in Oldbury in the 50's and early 60's wasn't allowed for some reason.
