I think this is his baptism:
9 June 1828, Old Swinford, James Christopher s of William & Charlotte Wooldridge.

Note, his middle name doesn't seem to appear on the census, but he had a son Christopher (not all that common).

I can't see another James with father William.

All of the local Wooldridges originate in Old Swinford (actually most of them seem to have lived in Lye for centuries).

William Wooldridge is more of a problem as there are several bapt 1805-6 at Old Swinford, but these seem too young as he is consistently older than his wife in the census.
I think the more likely one is:
