Just found a piece on Steve Bloomer from the Bugle. Apparently now in his forties and passed his footballing prime, Steve was coaching in Germany when WW1 broke out. He quickly found himself interned with British POW's. He became friends with a James Rueben Peck from Bloxwich, a member of the South Staffs Regiment who was taken Prisoner in 1916. Apparently James was also a footballer who had the chance to join Aston Villa, later on after the War. Steve and James got a Football Team up and running with the other POW's, which bought at least some light relief to while away their time in captivity. Linell.
