Hi all,
Does anyone know what the local news papers were called in the Brierley Hill, Brockmoor and Dudley Areas from around 1890 - 1930? If so, do you know where they maybe archived for viewing?

the county express newspaper covers brierley hill/ brockmoor area and the dudley area is covered by the dudley herald.

both should be available at dudley archive

There was also the Brierley Hill Advertiser.
Not sure on dated, but it was going in the 1850s - used to be copies in Brierley Hill Library - possibly now at Dudley?

Well, ideally i was looking for anything KENDALL related, however, i was looking for more information about JOSEPH KENDALL B 1916, D 24/03/1918, Dudley Guest Hospital. He fell in the fire at my Great Grand Fathers pub, and he ran the boy from the pub to Dudley Guest Hospital, or so the story went. The Death certificate reads under Rank or Profession
"Of the Round of Beef Inn, 1 Wallows Street, Round Oak, Brierley Hill, Son of George Kendall, Chain Maker and Licensed vic_______er!?"
and then under Cause of Death
"Shock following burns accidentally sustained through deceased's clothing taking fire. Lived 39 hours".
I was thinking the newspaper may elaborate a little bit......

Oh poor lad, no health and safety laws back then, no sorry not got anything from the 1900's. You would need to search the County Express at Dudley Archives, their back copies are all on film. HTH Linell.
