I have two Hill family certificates which confirm a few details at last.

Matilda Hill (nee Ann Matilda Hotchkiss) Died 7 February 1927 at 22 St Andrews Street, Netherton aged 67 yrs, wife of William Hill, General Carter, witnessed by William Hill, Son, In Attendence, of 5 New Abberley Street Dudley.

William Hill, born 21 March 1859, Upper Netherton, Dudley (That would be Netherton Hill in 1859, the area next to St Andrews church).
Father - Christopher Hill, Furnace Labourer: Mother Lucy Hill formerly Hancox.

We already know that William and Matilda were married 20 August 1882 at St James Church, Dudley and lived on Hockley Lane (Yew Tree Hills) in Netherton for many years before moving to No 22 st Andrews Street, Netherton.

There's a few more family certificates to come but I can't find a death for this William Hill. After his wife died in 1927 he moved in with his daughter and her husband (My grandparents Minnie Hill and David Wesley Taylor) at 32 Walker Street, Netherton. My mother was born in 1928 and can remember him going up to bed with a candle for light and warming his nightime beer up by the fire in the kitchen. I've applied for two possible death certificates from the Dudley register so far but neither of them had the correct address or next of kin. I think he died sometime between 1932 and 1937, that's really all I have to go on. The register entries I tried were DUD/179/95 for 1932; and DUD/02A/425 for 1936.

None in Pershore, which is the registration district for Netherton up till 1974.

If your mum can remember him then your 1932 and 1936 tries were a good start.

Looking only for those born in 1850 I get one as all other have a middle initial.

So you dont know where buried?

just wondering if he would have been buried St Andrews?

is this the address he would have died?

might be worth looking at regis for St Andrews around the years you know

It's quite likely that he was buried at St Andrews, his father Christopher hill was buried there for sure. Daft question I'm sure, but are the records at the church or held elsewhere? My mam still has friends who are regulars churchgoers at St Andrews.

Might be worth asking the vicar maybe send him an email

not sure if the records go up to that in archives pop a post on look ups for St Andrews if no luck with vicar

Just before you archive this one I got a couple more certificates in the post today, one of which which breaks down a Hill family brickwall for me.

Christopher Hill birth certificate.... Born 7th March 1838, "at 2 -o-clock in the morning in Netherton" (that's what it says) . Father William Hill Furnace Man; Mother Mary Hill, formerly Worrall ... Signed with the mark of Mary Hill. So at least I now know that Williams wife and Christophers mother was Mary Worrall.

Now to find Mary Worrall and her family...

if i remember right they do quite a bit for family history think the vicar called steve
