Sorry for 30-year adoption policy

In Australia during the 1950's, 1960's and 1970's, over 150,000 unwed mothers had their children taken against their will by churches and adoption agencies.

Unlike the mythical Aboriginal "Stolen Generation", this was government policy that has documents to prove its existence and practice.

When the Australain Goverment apologised to the Native stolen generation they also apologised to those children deliberately seperated and brought to Austrlia from England.

Since then there has been a push to apologise to the hundreds of thousands of women and their children who were treated so appallingly.

Compounding the problem was the total lack of information available to mother or adopted childen until very recently.

The Federal Government will issue the appology on behalf of the nation later this year.

I hope they also inject a lot of money so researches can help reunite these broken families.
