I was born in Hamstead and believe I was christened at St Paul's church Hamstead around 1952/53. Does anyone know where I can look at the baptism records to get a copy of this certificate.

Having called Sandwell archives at Smethwick Library, they have not got them and said to contact Birmingham Central Library which I did. They have not got them and looked up on line to see if the archives at Stafford have them. Again negative.

The problem is the Church is on the boundary of West Bromwich/Birmingham. Not sure how far back but at one time Hamstead even came under Handsworth.

I went on one website and someone else was after the files back in 1999 and said the church did not have them either.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If there not at B'ham or Sandwell, you could try Dudley or Wolverhampton.

I have contacted the church, awaiting a call back. However, the man who tried to locate them before in 1999 had contacted the church and was told they did not have them they were in archive but did not know where.

I have looked at loads of baptism and marriage records at Birmingham Archives, not for this particular church but for others in Handsworth.

Although Handsworth was in Staffordshire, all the Handsworth records are held at Birmingham Archives, not Sandwell

It might be worth ringing them again, perhaps someone might have made a mistake.
