I have been researching for some time, but I have come across something that I don't understand

That doesn't mean to say that it is difficult as it's probably just me!

Having traced the marriage of a female with 2 first names I get "christian name * surname" and when I try to find who she was married to, I find that there are no other people registered on the same day, just her.

Can anyone tell me what this means?

Can you give us the details so we can have a look?

I have seen this before and wonder if it is because the info cannot be read on the spouse
remember reading something.

The details are Mary Ann Goodall married in 1858 AMJ in Alcester, Warwickshire.
Ref: 6D 681

I think that it is worth mentioning that a Mary Ann Goodall is registered in the 1871 census as living in Birmingham with 3 children under her own name, if I am not mistaken.

She does not appear in the 1861 census and so I am assuming that she got married between 1851 and 1861, as she does appear in the 1851 census as a single girl, if that makes any sense.

find one of them on the 1861 census and you will know which one it is you need
