Is it possible to find out if there were stillborn babies in your family?

My maternal grandfather alledgedly had twin sisters that died at birth. I definately cannot find any births and deaths registered, although the surname is COOK so it's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack. Would stillbirths be recorded anywhere, it would have happened somewhere between1893 and approx. 1905. The parents were married in 1892 and my grandfather was born in 1899, I think possibly the twins were born after him but I cannot be certain of this. I am desperate to put this family mystery to rest so to speak and it would be good to find out if the rumours were true.
Hope someone here can help, many thanks.

Might be worth contacting the GRO and asking them
I thought all births had to be recorded

I am not sure that you will ever get this answer :-)
This link says that stillbirths were not registered until 1927.

My partners mother all ways said she had twin sisters and one died at birth, I have found a double christening for them on 06/06/1921, but the birth date that is on the christening page was, 01/09/1920. but I can only find the registration of the one that lived, so how come the one that died was christened.

:P Hi Jimmy

It was often a hospital or birth bedside christening of a child not expected to live
