but need census for the family
got bapts but not got time to add them

can someone with the Halesowen transcripts verify this pls

The census would be useful - there seem to be two (submitted) possibles on IGI - both with same parents (Thomas & Mary) both bapt St Thomas, Dudley : one 1805 and one 1812 so the earlier one probably died??
Unless the census points us in a different direction of course.......

are any of this lot on 1841 and 1851 pls

The last child is 'Kettura'
I think Edwards occupation is 'Whimsey Man' - the crossing through doesn't help!

Have been looking for Edward b abt 1850/1 - remember him: Jabez's brother who was with him in 1861.

The only possibility I can find is:
1881 28 Penrith Street, Barrow in Furness:
Edwd Downing, head, 31, engine driver, b Dudley
Harriet, wife, 31, b Staffordshire
Margt, dau, 9
Kiturah, dau, 7
Benje, son, 5
Chas, son, 6m
Children all b Lancashire

Interesting that there is a Keturah there?

This Edward & Harriet are in Crown Street, Dalton, Barrow, in 1871, no one else with them - wife's birthplace Staffordshire, ?Old ------
Can't find them at any other date.

Think I have found possible marriage for them:
Jun 1868 Dudley 6c 87 Edward Downing & Harriet Hughes

Have just realised the witness names on Jabez's marriage: Joseph Harper and Keturah Harper.

So looked for a marriage and found:
Mar 1864 Dudley 6c 65 Joseph Harper and Catura!! Downing.

I wonder if she is the one in the 1841 census above with Edward & Mary and therefore quite likely to be Jabez's sister?
