Looking for the baptism of Robert Jakes approximately 1774, according to the 1841census he was born in Northants but can't find him there, he was married in Cransley Northants in approximately 1796.

Perhaps one of these is your james?
Do you know his parents names at all?
If you go into each one you should find the parents names.I know none of them read northants, but you did say you had no luck with your search there, so perhaps he was in fact born elsewhere.
