I would first like to thank the board for accepting my membership. Also, I will accept all the help I can get, as this is my first time to seriously try an search for my ancestors. I am a 5th generation Texan, married 50+ years to, the love of my life, Shirley. We have three sons, eight grandchildren & five (+one on the way) great grandchildren. I will be attempting to locate family members with the surname's of Lord & Ashton, in the Hollinwood area. I have an Common Prayer book that was sent to my maternal grandmother Mary Elizabeth Lees. She was born in 1901. The prayer book has an hand written inscription on the cover leaf: Frances Lord, 5 Denton Lane, Hollinwood & is dated: December 17th, 1887. Frances Lord is my great great aunt. I would hazzard a guess that the prayer book was given to Frances as a child. This book & a photo of a gentleman identifed to me, by my mother, as one of the Lord's (I can't remember his given name) is all I have to go on. I look forward to meeting new & interesting people. I believe there is an seven hour difference between Great Britian & Texas, so I will have to bid y'all a goodnight for now!

what else are you looking for mike how does the above fit in to your tree frances being aunt is it a sister or brother your decendant ?

peterd - No fair, I asked first! I am just getting into this process. It will take me some time before I know what I'm doing. When I start asking more questions & I begin to understand what all the answers mean then I'll be able to give you an intelligent response to your questions. That make sense to you? Also, I cannot join Ancestery.com or any other site for at least 3 months. We have too many medical issues to deal with at the moment.
