What do you think? I hate them! Where is the red in the Union Jack? If I was a team member I would get a red texta and paint in the missing colour.

I think they should go back to the original uniforms, as in Ancient Greece.

"The nastiest event?
Probably the pankration or all-in wrestling was the nastiest event. There were hardly any rules. Biting and poking people's eyes were officially banned, but some competitors did both! While it does not seem very sporting to us, all-in wrestling was very popular. Boxing was tough too. The fighters wore leather gloves and a boxer was allowed to go on hitting his opponent even after he'd knocked him to the ground!
However, cheating was punished. Anyone caught cheating, trying to bribe an athlete for instance, had to pay for a bronze statue of Zeus, as a punishment. "

Running naked would not be fair to the Africans! They would keep tripping over or other runners would step on vital parts.
And the English athletes would blind everybody else when the sun shone.

I've always had a (maybe) strange relationship with the Union Flag; too many right wing extremist conotations I suppose. That's maybe because it's not used that much. (I'm comparing this to Denmark, where the Danish flag is flown on a much more regular basis, so much so that many house have their own flag pole!)
On the other hand I love the Union Lion motif that the British olympic team has been using the last 15 years or so!
I've always thourght there was something missing from a flag that claims to be a "union" flag - there is one part of the UK that is not represented!

Good job they changes the law, so that the Union Flag is not just something misused by right wing extremists!!
Even though flying the flag is common in Denmark, it is very much regulated by various laws. The flags themseves are regulated, and have to be lowered by sunset. It is illegal to fly a foreign flag without permission. But there are many days when flags are flown. People use them for birthdays, weddings and other special occaisions. Official buildings fly the flag on the most inportant royals birthdays, 1st May, Constitution Day, etc and even the buses have small flags on them for these occaisions.
