Delighted to become a member of this forum - this is building into a significant resource for all of us with Black Country ancestors.
My PATTEN line begins in Much Wenlock in the 1500s, but came to the Wolverhampton area when my 3 x gt grandfather joined the migration from the Ironbridge Gorge some time before 1810 to find work in the new mines in the Black Country.
I've been researching this line for a couple of decades, and am now keen to learn more about the families my ancestors married into (mainly Heath Town and Wednesfield), including STEVENS (as in Stevens Screw Co.); HAYWARD (as in Sir Jack of Wolverhampton Wanderers fame); MARSHALL (traps); GULLEY; and ROBERTS (traps).
Looking forward to contributing.
David
