is it possible for a wife to have a child born in 1908 and then in 1913 and then her last child born in 1923, the mother was born in 1887, so her age would have be 21, 26 and 36 when her children were born.
There is a 10 year gap between the 2nd and 3rd child, but can't find a birth for the 3rd child and the only reference I have is the daughter in law mentioned on the mother's death certificate.

Who can tell, some women had children over a 20 year time frame, sometimes later children were grandchildren, passed off as son or daughter of the Head of the Family. HTH from Linell.

It's certainly possible. There may be reasons for the gaps; serving in the armed forces, spells in prison, working away, a low fertility rate in either wife or husband, or even the wife having affairs that were productive.

It is certainly possible, Other reasons for a large gap could be child deaths, due to an epidemic. I have an instance of this in my family where the 3 youngest died of Scarlet fever, then my great-grandma went on to have 3 more. There was 25 years between he eldest and youngest child.

As far as children dying is concerned, it is quite common that they were born and died between censuses so that they're not recorded at all. If you have access to the 1911 census this may give you an idea whether or not this was the case as it records how many children were born. Of course some of the children will have been born after this date. (Still borns shouldn't be recorded, as it was only children that were born alive that were recorded).
Have you tried doing a BMD search with the surname the children would have had and the maiden name of the mother - this is included in BMD records from the end of 1911?
