By chance I found a conversation on this forum concerning the above but the discussion has ended.

I am a direct descendent of both of these people and started to trace my family tree in 2011 and only just found the discussion. I had got back to John and also had a mystery re the relationship with Mary. I noted that John had disappeared by the time the family moved from Madeley (Salop - near Ironbridge) to Oldbury and then Eel Street where later ancestors of mine lived. So it was great to see a discussion that went some way to solving some of the mystery, i.e. had John died or did he leave the family and his wife then commit bigamy as often happened when divorce was impossible or too expensive for the working classes. But it does seem that he seems to have died according to the chain of the discussion.

I wondered if anyone who had been interested in this research and posted during the discussion had delved further back re John and Martha/Mary. especially the fact that she was born in Manchester whereas her mother seems to hail from Madeley. I have a lot of information (handwritten) on the various branches of the Northall clan that my dad (died in 2004) - also George in a long line of Georges - that he obtained via his cousin from a lady who researched before the days of desktop computers, let alone laptops! These various branches were confusing but I was able definitely from census etc records to determine that John is great....many times grandfather of mine. Any information very gratefully received

Hi if your a decendant of John Northall born Madeley 1793 - 1874, his parents were:- William Northall born 15-09-1768,Abdon Shropshire, and Mary Bennett, born 27-04-1775, Abdon Shrosphire. I have the Northall line going back to 1630 if you need more info. I don't know why William was born at Abdon as all his decendants were born in Madeley. Mary's family came from Abdon, they were married in Abdon church on 28-01-1788. I stem from John's brother Samuel Northall - William and Mary being my 5 x G Grandparents.

Is this a Brickwall or have you solved it?
