Family Tree Newbie!

Hi all,
Very new to this Family Tree Stuff. My father has been doing it for years so decided to take an interest and see if i can add to it. I am researching my own family name, Severs, mainly based in Sheffield, but there are traces of them in Northamptonshire back in the 1700's. I also plan on delving into my mothers side of the family, Sockett. FInally i'm also thinking of delving into my partners family, Edwards if i get the time!
