Storey grandmother

Hi to all fellow researchers. I wonder if anyone can help me as I have hit a brick wall with my maternal grandmother. According to her death certificate she died aged 53 in 1936 and is stated as named Nellie Mildred Potter (nee Storey). On the marriage certificate in 1909 she was entered as Nellie Mildred Storey aged 26, married in Tynemouth, Northumberland. This states her father as being Thomas (deceased). I have searched all birth records of 1883 and the years before and after and have failed to find her. I have also looked under Ellen, Eleanor, Helena but cant seem to find her. Can anyone help? I would be most grateful for any assistance. Thank you.

I found this one for you

Ellen G Storey
born 1874 North Shields, Northumberland, England

father Thomas Storey
Mother Janet A (no surname)

Source LDS

This was not taken form parish register, so may account for the different name. May be worth looking into though, as area born and fathers name match as well as year of birth.

Hi Chrissie,
Did you manage to figure if that was the correct entry?

On the 1891 census there is a Nellie M Storey aged 13 (so birth Ca1878) in Tynemouth,North Shields,
Parents are Thomas W. Storey and Amelia, both aged 40 ....
3 siblings listed for Nellie are: Roxana C.Storey aged 17, Thomas W.Storey aged 15 and Darsey M Storey aged 5.

Hi Nikki
thanks for getting in touch about this. I am still unsure whether or not this is the correct person, though it seems to be the one and only Nellie M. Storey on any census that I have researched. I know that sometimes the folk were not always truthful about their age at marriage so I wondered if maybe she has pretended to be 5 years younger when she married in 1909? I dont know of any other way to check this out.
Thanks again.

 Hi Chrissie

Beware of 'ages' the only sure way is Birth Certificates everything else is open to lies, guesswork and mistranscription. :?

Do you have any other information on STOREYs and POTTERs? I see chopendoz is interested in POTTERs? at viewtopic.php?f=15&t=167 have you two been in contact?

Remember you can never give too much information only too little so always post as much as possible

You need someone to look up this Nellie in the 1891 & 1901 census -the others may be related!

Name When Born - Where born Administrative county Civil parish Occupation

Nellie Storey ca 1890 Northd North Shields Northumberland Chirton
Anna B Storey ca 1854 Northd North Shields Northumberland Chirton House Keeper Domestic
George F Storey ca 1858 Northd North Shields Northumberland Chirton Ship Chandlers Assistant

HI

Even though Thomas was Deceased was there an occupation stated for him?

Was there an actual address on the marriage cert that Nellie married from?

Who were the witness - have yu already checked them out?
