Hi all, I'm new to this forum but some may know of me from other genealogy places. I'm Anne and my main genealogy focus is the DOCWRA family, which I've been researching for more years than I can remember!

I'm interested in any mention of DOCWRA or any of the 50+ variant spellings (yes really!!!) found so far. DOCWRA is an old English surname - despite looking like it comes from the east of Europe - but I'm interested in the name anywhere in the world. My research so far is on my website
http://www.docwras.org.uk - which is needing an update as there's still more data to add!

Hi,
I'm also new to the site and just wanted to say hello and also say what a wonderful surname. I can honestly say that's the first time I have come across the name and was fascinated by its history and meaning (very interesting).
Do you know how many people still hold that surname?
Regards
Adrian

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
Adrian, there's a fair few around still worldwide but it's not wildly common. It's my stepfather's surname not mine (unfortunately, mine is a far more mundane NICHOLS!) but my stepfather is also my cousin once removed (my Dad's cousin) so the links are still close (and makes for some interesting lines in the family tree!!!

) and as no-one else was researching DOCWRA we decided to do it. He's now 80 and has given up the research so it falls to me to keep digging!
