Thanks to RF we now have the marriage for this Thomas Britton on BCC

http://bcconnections.tribalpages.com/tr ... =617148227

21 Oct 1861 St Thomas, Dudley
Thomas Britton,full age,bachelor,miner,Dudley,father John Britton,labourer.
Sarah Williams, minor, spinster,Dudley, father John Williams, nail factor.
Both signed. Witnesses:- James Basterfield & 'mark of' Mary Basterfield

1871 Bloomfield Street,Hawn, Worcestershire, England
Thomas Britton,32,head,married, coal miner,
Sarah,26,wife,
Alice,7,daughter,
Eliza,5,daughter,
Albert,3,son. All born Halesowen

1881 Stourbridge Rd, Halesowen, Worcestershire, England
Thomas Brittain,45,head,widow, coal miner,
Alice,16,daughter,unmarried,
Albert,12,son,
Amos,9,son,
Harry,6,son. All born Halesowen

I am having a problem working out if Sarah Williams connects into any of the Williams families on BCC :?

On the marriage she lists her father as John Williams a nail factor

Before their marriage I have Thomas Britton living in Short Cross Street
1861 Census Short Cross Hasbury Halesowen Stourbridge Worcestershire
John Brittian Head 58 Labourer Coal Pit born Norton Worcs.
Martha Brittian Wife 57 born Leominster Herefordshire
Thomas Brittian son 24 Coal Miner born Hasbury Worcs.
N.K. Brittian 1

There are also many 'Williams' living in Short Cross Street including this family...
John Williams,49,liscensed victualler,
Eliza,47,wife,
Sarah,16,daughter,housework
Eliza,12,daughter
William,8
John,5
All born Halesowen

Now could that be Sarah? ... though on her marriage her father is listed as nail factor? not victualler?

....and are they on BCC?... there are so many Williams on there

Thankyou

Just realised that I had missed something  .....

Thomas Britton was a widower by 1881.... so the Sarah who shows up on the 1891 and 1901 census as his wife must be a different lady, not the Sarah Williams I have the marriage for.... she must have died between 1871 and 1881.

So can anyone work out who this second wife is.... is there a marriage that could be looked Up?
and which Sarah is the mother of the children born after 1871?? .... Amos and Harry?

Thankyou
Expat

I think you have the right John Williams

and Sarah Brittain ( nee Williams) died aged 32 in 1877

and Thomas Brittain married a Sarah Hambury (or Hamburg) in 1883 Cradley

BRITTAINThomasHAMBURYSarahCradley Heath, St LukeSandwell Register Office20/2/4 1883

Sarah may have been widow and maiden name probably Bate

Sarah Bate is on bcc born Cradley Worcs.

http://www.bcconnections.tribalpages.co ... =118837657

1881 Census 2 Furlong Lane Cradley Stourbridge Worcs.
Sarah Hambury Head (wid) 41
James Hambury son 18 Chain Maker

so she possibly married an Hambury around 1861

It looks quite possible to be. John is a nailor in 1851 and in 1871 Eliza is widowed but sons William and John are labourers at ironworks.

If you think it looks like him and 2 seasoned researchers think it looks good
I would add them to Bcc with a note
then we know who to blame if it is incorrect

only joking! go for it

marriages checked out thanks to RF for marriages what would we do without him!

we can then archive this if all done
