Interesting, San. I have an Emms family on my tree in Tipton, Edward Emms (c. 1856 d. 1929) and Sarah Hadley c. 1860 m. 1876 Tipton, they had a son John Thomas Emms b. 1891 Tipton who married an Ethel May Wood b. 1893 Oldbury at St Mark's church, Tipton in 1911. Ethel was the daughter of Frederick Thomas Wood b. abt 1864 West Bromwich and Caroline Charlotte Higginson marr. Christ Church, Oldbury 1887. I think that he may have been the eldest son of my great grandfather William Wood b. 1832 Alveley, Shropshire and Matilda Wright b. West Bromwich 1845, so my great uncle. There was a rift in the family and Thomas went his own way. There was also a son Frederick John Wood b. Oldbury 1889.

Better forget that one, San!
I see there are two Ethel May Woods, one born in Dudley i.e. possibly Tipton c. Oct 1892, and 'mine' b. West Bromwich i.e. Oldbury c. Oct 1893. It's more likely to have been the local Tipton E M Wood who married J T Emms.
