Victorian Photography - The Hidden Mother

Had to share this,as it caused so much amusement on my Facebook last night.
Many of us have been lucky enough to discover we have photos of our Victorian Ancestors but of course, back then, the photos had to be taken in a Studio. The exposure time for the taking of the photo was lengthy and that meant everyone keeping very still. Obviously, with small children, that presented a problem, especially if it was meant to be a portrait of just the children. So what did those clever Victorians do? They put the Mother in the photo but hid her.

Someone suggested we should start this as a new Trend being far more interesting than the current 'Planking' Fad.
Of course my son had to jump in immediately with this.
