I think on the 1861 he should be down as a widower

This marriage seems to fit him re occup for him and name and occup for father.

can someone post the census pls for this family and see what they think

On the 1881 he is a widow living as a lodger

wondering if he remarries here

so this may or may not be the Benjamin b 1832

He may marry Harriet Childley she dies he goes back home iss down as unm on 1861 census but should say wid
Then he may marry again in 1878 needs checking

but he isnt the one with Mary Bate on cnesus with dau Jemima.
That one checks out as the one with mother Sarah Griffiths
