I have Matilda Bastable born 1847 Oldbury and the 1851 and 1861 census shows her living with parents Charles and Lydia Bastable -
There is some confusion over Matildas marriage.

Matilda is showing on numerous trees on Ancestry as husband Elijah Beddows parents Charles and Lydia and Matilda emigrating to America

There is a tree that shows her marrying Thomas Green in 1872 and I think this is the correct one.

Free BDM site shows a marriage in 1872 of Matilda Bastable and Thomas Green and in 1867 a marriage between Elijah Beddows and Matilda Cuttler
I can find no marriage between a Matilda Bastable and Elijah Beddows

Would really appreciate anyone casting their eye over this.

Wow that was quick. 1871 has a single Matilda Bastable as a servant living in Brades Village Oldbury.

there is a bapt at handsworth .....not sure if him or not

Only info I have on Charles is from the 1841/51/61 cenus - born 1808 Quinton
he is my third grt grdfather so if anyone else has any info I would be grateful.

Have you looked the marriage up at tipton to see wits for charles?

I think that bapt in 1808 handsworth to a Wm Bastable and elizabeth may be him?

in Smethwick then someone might be going and look up tipton one.

YOu need to put it on the list we have entitled dudley and smethwick look ups post here
rememeber it is only as and when someone is going and if they have time.
Put your user name
then the day month year and church and names of bride and groom.

how about putting a new thread on for Charles Bastable and lets run with him something may crop up
a brother living near etc

then we can archive this matilda one

also if you on new post for charles could post census with full info ie occup where born
exactly what it says on image

eg

1841 Flood Street Dudley Worcs
