Hi. I am looking for information about my great grandad on my father side. He was called Joseph Henry Heyes born 1905 and lived in Hyde, greater Manchester. His daughter was Doreen Hayes who married John Mckeown.
Josephs military records are: Army number: 13102704, Unit: No 2 D.B.N, Regiment: R.E, Rank D.V.R
Any information would be great
Many thanks
Darren Mckeown

Hi, thanks for the reply. Dont know his date of birth, think he died in 2003. He was married twice, the first time to Dora Owen they had two children Doreen and Joyce Heyes, the second marriage was to a lady called May (no second name). Details are very sketchy about this side of my family hence the lack of details.

Still not found much on Joseph. I do know he was born around 1905 and his wife Dora was born around 1909, managed to get copy of their marriage certificate, appears they were married at Stockport registry office 9th Jan 1926. Henrys dad on the marriage certificate was a Ralph Heyes (my great great grandfather), he was a fire beater in the coal mines, Doras dad was called Thomas Wilson owen. I do not have any date of births for these and can not find in census, can anyone help?

You have his military details so you could order his records from:
http://www.veterans-uk.info/ Just click on Service Records, Medals & Badges once on the above page.
You'd need to read the criteria to order these records and if you miss out any requested information or you're unable to provide them then they will refuse your application.
You could post for free on this site which has always helped me and someone should be able to give general information on the Regiment etc:
http://www.ww2talk.comLet us know how you get on and good luck.
Regards
Adrian

The witness were Millicent Owen and Joseph Ashurst. The 1911 census could well be Dora's family. Will try and order Josephs war records, thanks for the advise.
