I'm a descendant of Jabez Brettle abt 1854 Dudley. I believed he was the son of Edward Brettle 1834 Woodside and Sarah (Round) married 11 Dec 1854. The 1861 census shows Jabez, Edward and Sarah living in Blue Pig row in Dudley. I have Edward Christened at Particular Baptist, Cradley 27 Feb 1834 father Solomon Edward 1807 - 1837. However I am now worried that I either have the wrong Edward or the wrong marriage for Edward and Sarah and possibly the wrong Sarah. Mallosa's post of the 4 Aug 2011 shows an Edward Brettles marriage to a Sarah Round in 1854 but with a different father for Edward so I must be on the wrong track. I can not find Jabez's birth records to get his moms maiden name so really dont know where to go from here. Can you help in any way please?

need to discount the other one
then contact regis office and say you only want it if mother is sarah the father may or may not be on at this stage
so you could say father may be Edward Brettell or may be not on.

Edward's occupation would need to be checked.

The Census entries on BCC have Edward as a Moulder, a Pipe Moulder, a Painter, and a Nailer. Could the Comb Maker be a transcription error, mind you I have seen some old Combs, they look like a strip of wood with Nails screwed in - ooch

Yes it must be Jo, Ann was Barnett so that fits well. Solomon Brettell died about 1837 and Ann Married Thomas Crampton, don't know what happened to Edward Brettel though
