Perseverence pays? Jibbelfs=Tibbetts

I have been searching for the marriage of this Edwin Tibbetts for some time:

and knew from census records that he married a lass named Lydia. This morning I trawled through the 1860s marriages for all Lydias on ancestry.com and came up with a marriage in 1865 reg. at Stourbridge of Lydia Fletcher (Q3 6c 281). The cross-reference to spouse revealed the GRO scribe (not ancestry!) had recorded the groom as Edwin Jibbelfs!
I don't think 1865 is included in the WMBMD transcriptions. Is there any way we can check the marriage without sending for the certificate? Secondly, is there a process for correcting the GRO entry?
Lydia can be found in the census with her parents (Joseph and Mary) in Powke Lane in 1851 and 1861.
