ARC TBC........................The Dudley Family - Lye

This post apertains to a post back in August regarding Obediah DUDLEY and have put this on for possible comment and hoping that those with the ability to update the BCC tree may wish to check the information and possibly update the tree.
Firstly we have seen, on the BCC tree, in respect to Joseph DUDLEY 1829-1878 and have assumed that the record of Joseph's marriage details to Emma CHAMBERS was taken from the marriage certificate. We believe that part of that was a lie, in particular the reference to his father being Joseph DUDLEY, will explain later.
We start the story with the baptism of Rebecca DUDLEY, 2 Oct 1804 at Oldbury the daughter of John & Elizabeth DUDLEY.
Then comes the baptism of Joseph DUDLEY, son of Rebecca (unmarried) 29 Mar 1829 Oldswinford.
On the 1841 census Joseph can be found living with his grandparents;
1841 Census
at Hay Green
JOHN Dudley - 65 - engineer - no
ELIZABETH Dudley - 60 - no
Benjamin Dudley - 20 - engineer - yes
Thomas Dudley - 20 - coalminer - yes
William Dudley - 15 - clayminer - yes
John Dudley - 14 - chainmaker - yes
JOSEPH Dudley - 12 - yes
In 1851 he is living with his uncle John who is only two years older than him and his widowed grandmother Elizabeth
1851 Census
at 60 Dudley Road
John Dudley - head - 24 - clayminer - Lye
Joseph Dudley - nephew - 22 - chainmaker - Lye
Elizabeth Dudley - mother - 67 - Lye
For his wedding to Emma Chambers, 24 Apr 1859, at Oldswinford we think that this is where he told a fib (possibly out of embarracement of not knowing who his father was). We have not found a Joseph senior and, in any case, he went through life with his mother's maiden name.
In the meantime, Rebecca Dudley had married William Rogers, 21 Feb 1830 at Oldswinford, seen on the following census;
1841 Census
at Shepherds Brook
William Rogers - 40 - nailer
REBECCA Rogers - 35
Sarah Rogers - 10
Elizabeth Rogers - 8
William Rogers - 4
1851 Census
at 14 Priest Lane
William Rodgers - head - 51 - nailer - Oldswinford
REBECCA Rodgers - wife - 48 - clayminer - Oldbury
Sarah Rodgers - daughter - 19 - nailer - Lye
Elizabeth Rodgers - daughter - 16 - nailer - Lye
William Rodgers - son - 13 - nailer - Lye
Hannah Rodgers - daughter - 8 - at home - Lye
1861 Census
at 17 Priest lane, Shepherds brook, Oldswinford
William Rogers - head - 64 - nailmaker - Oldswinford
REBECCA Rogers - wife - 55 - nailmaker - Oldswinford
Ann Rogers - daughter - 19 - nailmaker - Oldswinford
Our next message will be about Emma Chambers
