I'm very lucky that both sides of my family have been researched really well, by my uncle on my dad's side and my grandfather on my mum's. I have most of their research documented but of course there are always gaps that I'm really enjoying exploring!

I have lots of surnames that I'm interested in :) here are a few!

THOMAS from Medway in Kent and further back around Poplar in London
PARKER, SWAN and GURR from Kent too, particularly Medway
PAGET, TURNER, TISSHAW and WATKINSON from around Bethnal Green and Hackney in London
HUGHES from London (especially Woolwich) and then further back to Oldwinsford and Stourbridge, and NORCOTT from around Stourbridge too
ANSLEY, ATTWOOD, SAWKIN, LAWRENCE, DEAL and SABINE from Kent (particularly the Canterbury area and coastal areas like Ramsgate and Folkestone)
CROFT, COLLINS, ROBERTS, MAYNARD, LUSTED and FEVER from Kent (especially Goudhurst, Marden, Staplehurst area) and crossing over into Sussex too
HILL from around Fulham in London and then further back to Somerset
COOMBS and STALLARD from Somerset too, around Yatton and Nailsea area
PHILLIPS, ELWELL, STANLEY, BROOK, WESTWOOD and STEVENS from Staffordshire, particulary Kingswinford
SELF from around Chelsea in London and Essex
WHELAN from somewhere in southern Ireland?
SOUTH and BARNES from around Aveley in Essex

I didn't know if anyone recognised shared surnames around the Staffordshire or Stourbridge area?

catherine.

Hi gcb...
welcome to the forum!

We have a General Discussion for counties other than Black Country area
the General Discussion is at the top of the board.

and if you scroll down the board you come to the Black Country Genealogy section
any from the areas you mention OLDSWINFORD, STOURBRIDGE, KINGSWINFORD
do post in there your queries and our dedicated team will help you!

We also have a Black Country Connections tree going on here....
