As I go further back I am starting to find locations that are numbers not places..... puzzles me. An example is 1793 in 1686002, Lanarkshire.

				Roger
Which records are you looking at? Are they batch numbers on the Family search site?

No they are actual records on some shared trees, most of the material on the trees have the actual locations but occasionally I get numbers like this instead. I do not think its a feature of some family tree system, my feeling was it might be more relating to older records and a geographical location code.... but I am puzzled.

I think this may be better in Misc. section. I will move it over.

Cannot see how to do that - my tree is on the web version of Ancestry.

I have also come across these numbers in my research on Ancestry. A word of caution, double check all the facts thoroughly as there is one researcher using these numbers, adding records and data that is incorrect or misleading.
I know to my cost, and it is taking ages to put things right
