They beat Australia in the yearly index produced by the United Nations.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/travel/news/revealed-the-worlds-happiest-places-to-live/story-fn32891l-1226184172691However, not all Britons are happy to live in Oz. For the majority who return back to the UK and emmigraion I can fully sympathise and understand their reasons.
For some though, they must be labeled "Whinging Poms".
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2056167/Revealed-Why-thousands-Britons-emigrated-Australia-returning-home.htmlBasically the United Nations index doesn't consider the basic fact of human existence, your home is where your family is!

Mikleed, read the article. It is written by an Englishman in an English newspaper and he is quoting and English professor who calls them whinging poms.
Take it up with him.
I think anybody who has enountered immigrants in their family tree would find this kind of study fascinating.

You keep forgetting that I am still British and born in Birmingham.
I do not have a go at the British and am only guilty of admiring the country in which I live.
The majority of Britons who return to their mother country do it because of family.
That is perfectly understandable and I am sure that phenomena happens all around the world.
Imagine being a convict, with no real possibility of returning. A 7 year sentence for stealing a loaf of bread takes on a whole new meaning...

But then the wages probably reflect that!
It's expensive in Denmark too, take cars for example - we pay about 150% in registration tax, needless to say we don't have two cars! We pay lots of taxes (about 50% for most people), and wages do reflect that.
