I have been drinking quite a bit of this
and prefer it to ordinary mineral water.
I get the Carbonated mineral water and from what I have read it
is no different to ordinary water
but I am not sure on what we should be looking at on labels
how much sodium should we have
any guidelines anywhere?

There are varying amounts, but it looks as though 1600mg is what is recommended in the UK. USA's rda is a lot higher.
If you're drinking a lot of it I'd think about the acid due to it being carbonated - you don't want a set of false teeth just yet

what acid it is only carbon dioxide
it is the sodium and Bicarbonate on the bottle that I was bit concerned with

San Pellgrino says it has pH of 7.7 so actually less acid than tap water
What you should check in all mineral water (according to my husband) is the nitrate/nitrite percent as that indicates how much fertilizer has got into the water. Personally I think it gives it extra flavour

Tap water in Melbourne Metro is some of the best quality in the world so would never bother with bottled water here.
My house on Philip Island is a different matter...
For the showers, dishwashing etc it is bore water and is so "hard" that dishwashing liquid and shampoo refuse to sud. Totally undrinkable.
For drinking at P.I. we use rainwater from a tank. We have a filter just to remove the wrigglies (mosquito lava).
Is your tap water flouridated in the U.K? If you drink bottled water, wouldn't the lack of flouridation be of concern to you dental health?

Our water in Telford is very hard, but once filtered it's fine. We tend to buy a couple of bottles of still water when we're going out walking, then keep refilling them from the filter till the bottles are only fit for the re-cycling bag!

I drink Sainsbury's Lemon & Lime flavoured water. To old to bother about my teeth anyway except cleaning them.

Tap water around here is really nice - I just filter it. I do buy the sparkling stuff as well - I like Highland Spring - never looked at the label. Best natural water I've ever tasted is from the streams on mountain tops in Austria.

Which is acidic! Ask a dentist what they think of carbonated drinks in general - even the ones with low or no sugar!

I thought carbon dioxide was a gas?
